Quick Update
I'm still here!
I've been doing a lot of other things: knitting, cross stitching, working, chauffeuring the kid around, watching Jane the Virgin. Even reading. But no blogging.
I have listened to Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders. What an experience! I recommend the audiobook version. There are 166 narrators. It's very well done. I'll be back on the blog with a review of that one I promise.
I also listened to All Our Wrong Todays and did not feel the same enthusiasm. I had some issues with it- issues involving the female characters.
Right now, I'm reading What Is Not Yours Is Not Yours by Helen Oyeyemi. It's good, but takes some time to get into.
Not a very exciting update, but it's all I got. I hope you're all reading good stuff!
It sounds like you've been busy. I'm going to listen to a sample of Lincoln in the Bardo.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you around. I loved Lincoln in the Bardo so much that I got a physical copy to read it again in that format. lol
ReplyDeleteI pitched Bardo to my book club for this year's list and it was chosen. 166 narrators in the audio book??? That is so crazy.
ReplyDeleteThat cross-stitching is pretty swell!
ReplyDeleteI ALSO had issues with the female characters in All Our Wrong Todays. Overall I liked but yeah, there were issues.
What what WHAT, I love that cross-stitching pattern! Where did you get it, what is that book or magazine that it's in? I love it and I hope it is part of a series and I want to cross-stitch the entire series!
ReplyDeleteIt's Little Red Riding Hood from The Prairie Schooler company. I bought it from 123 Stitch (online store). Not sure if it's a series.
DeleteHelen Oyeyemi is such an interesting writer! I enjoyed What Is Not Yours, but I still need to get through some of her backlist.
ReplyDeleteI'm SO glad you loved Bardo. I cannot recommend it enough, and it makes me so sad when someone doesn't like it. That audio is Emmy-worthy!!
ReplyDeleteI love your cross-stitch. I've put mine aside but am so anxious to get back to it. It is so soothing.
