Pin It and Do It, An Update

pinterest challenge

Something happened to me last week. I was suddenly inspired to do 4 Pins for Trish’s Pin It and Do It Challenge. Maybe I can make it all the way up to Pin Obsessed (8).

*Chunky Citrus Guacamole (Recipe)- I like avocados and this recipe was quite good. Unfortunately, I’m the only person in the house who eats them so I ate a lot of this by myself. Ugh. Make for parties.

*Hot Vinegar and Dawn on Bathroom Tile (Household Hint)- I was skeptical about this one at first. The hot vinegar melted my spray bottle. Sad smile However, once I sprayed it on and left it for a couple of minutes, I wiped it off and my subway tile was very shiny. A week later and my tile is still sparkly. It didn’t do much for my grout though.

*Scarf Organizer (Household Hint)- An easy one. The girl has a few scarves and never knows where they are. This simple solution works fairly well. I had the hanger (obviously) and bought a box of clear shower curtain hooks at Walmart for $2 or $3. The only problem with this one is without a full hanger of scarves, the hooks all slide toward each other.

*Nubbie Scrubbies (Crochet)- A couple of balls of Cottontots yarn from Bernat (Lemon Berry, Wonder White) and I made these washcloths. Very soft!

So far, so good. No duds yet. I’m not 100% sure what I’m going to do next but I have ideas. Thanks, Trish!

  1. I wonder if you could wrap something around the hanger to keep the scarves from sliding one way? I'm not sure what--I'm thinking something rubber but it's too early to think of something. ;)

I'm with you on the guacamole. LOVE it but hub is allergic to avocado. I just keep telling myself "good fat, good fat"

    YAY!! Great progress!!

  3. Dawn and hot vinegar? That sounds interesting to say the least! Nice to see an update on all of your progress. :)

    1. Yeah, you got to use it right away or it gets all foamy in the bottle. I'd do it again sometime.

  4. I use a huggable pant hanger for my scarves. I hang them through and around the hanger then put it on the back of the door. They stay in place.

  5. I'm going to try the dawn and vinegar for the tile in my bathroom shower poss this weekend. I wonder if, rather than put it in a spray bottle, if I could keep it in a bucket and apply with a sponge? Hmmmm...

  7. Maybe you can let the vinegar cool a little before using the spray bottle? Or maybe use a glass one?

    1. Yeah, I didn't think before I poured it. Plus is was a cheap dollar store bottle.

  8. I'm always looking for natural, non-cleanery ways to clean my house. Will definitely try it! My tile is due.

    1. Tile is hard to keep looking shiny. I loved it when we first put it up but it's the bane of my existence.
