The Something About Me Challenge

I've made my list for the 'Something About Me Challenge' beginning August 1. I'm starting Crime & Punishment for my Classics Club this week, so I'm starting early. Anyway, here's my list:

Crime and Punishment (JMC)

Chocolat (Chasida, Margo)

Can you keep a secret (Kathrin)

Of Human Bondage (Athena)

The Thirteenth Tale (Kristin)

To Kill a Mockingbird (Janet, Stephanie) *I just finished this yesterday

The Robber Bride (Ellen)

Anne of the Island (Becky)

Anne of the Windy Poplars (raidergirl)

Breakfast at Tiffany's (Lucca)

The Red Tent (Sarah Miller)

March (Dewey)

The Writing Life (Megan)

Anne Frank (Pattie)

  1. I have a question for you. Within the first 50 pages or so of Crime and Punishment, it is mentioned that Sonja carries a yellow passport. Does your copy footnote this and explain it? I find that most editions do not.

  2. luvpumpkins- I haven't started yet but as soon as I do I'll let you know.

  3. Good list. I am reading The Robber Bride, Chocolat and To Kill a Mockingbird soon as well. Will have to compare thoughts.

  4. luvpumpkins- My book has no footnotes (wish it did). I'm not sure what the passport is for. I can only assume that it has something to do with prostitution.

  5. that's right, chris. i first read the book when i was about 14 or so, so i didn't quite understand the connotations of the passport until further on into the novel. while i'm sure most readers can quickly pick up its meaning simply from context clues, some kind of footnote explaining the practice of identifying passports might be helpful.
