Lazy Sunday Thoughts: Hello, August!

Point Michaud Beach

Hello, August!

I can’t say it’s been that great of a summer. The weather hasn’t been what it should be. We keep waiting for summer to be more summer-like. I can’t believe I’ve had to take my daughter school supply shopping already! Next thing you know, I’ll be shopping for a Thanksgiving turkey.

I have two book reviews scheduled to go next week. I feel like that rarely happens anymore.

Anyone join Comixology? I signed up this week but haven't bought anything yet though I’ve added a couple of things to my wishlist. I’m not into superhero stuff so my choices are a bit limited. I joined because I want to support Canadian artists. Any recommendations for me?

I also joined Aarti’s A More Diverse Universe. This year I was smart and found some books that will suit both this and RIP. Check it out and join up!

In non-reading news, I’ve been playing around with my camera (see above), crocheted a dinosaur and one slipper (I will make two), and am planning a mini-vacation.
That’s about it for me!

  2. We have had the hottest summer I can remember in a long time. I'm kind of over the hot, humid weather but I do so love the longer days.

  3. This summer has been just odd. Damp and chilly, hot and humid, just plain humid. cool and rainy, brilliantly shiny. I'm not complaining. I don't miss the 3-digit temperatures at all!

  4. Ahhhh I have so many Comixology recommendations. I recommend The Wicked + the Divine (it has magic stuff but it's not superheroes). Sex Criminals if you're up for something fairly dirty. Saga is excellent. I hear good things about Bitch Planet though cannot confirm. Lumberjanes all day.

You should really see my glowering face re: summer. It is a hundred and million degrees every day this week and I cannot with this summer. PLEASE PLEASE TRADE WITH ME OH PLEASE.

  5. Love that first picture you included! And I'll gladly share some of my summer with you. I'm counting down the days until our highs are out of the 100s (Just read the above comment--Jenny and I have very similar weather).

Ooooh, curious about your Diversiverse and RIP cross-over!
