Friday Bookish Buzz: Still Shady

Hello! It’s a big weekend here in Canada. Turkey Day is coming! Otherwise known as Thanksgiving. It’s one of my favorite holidays. Before I slip into a gravy coma, here are some links.

*Rumour has it that Lena Dunham might get $3.6 million for her new book. Will a publisher be able to make that back?

*Barnes and Noble are having trouble keeping Amazon books out.

*There’s something Shady about the “Louisa May” cover.

*Is this the end? After 7 years, Google reaches settlement with publishers.

*Or maybe the end of the world? Top 10 apocalypse books. What would be on your list?

*Etsy Love: An art quote for your library perhaps? A Room Without Books… print from Lexiphilia

Finally, what does Mrs Enid think of 50 Shades of Grey?

  1. OR Books shouldn't change a thing. It's a parody and it should definitely be allowed. Boo Random House!

As for the top 10 apocalypse books, I'm glad to see The Road top the list, as it's one of my favourites. Still I would like to have seen Blindness on there (would you call that apocalyptic?) and definitely some Atwood. Wait a sec, aren't most on this list post apocalyptic?

    1. You are right. Most of these books are about what happens after the world as we know it ends.

  2. Amazon taking on B&N... I'm kind of hoping it doesn't really happen since here Waterstones decided not to make their own ereader in favour of a Kindle deal with Amazon. Have a good weekend!

  4. Oh, I read On The Beach so many years ago, but I *still* remember the final scene. That was/is some scary stuff. The Road was too but for different reasons. Great list, and I hope you had a wonderful Turkey Day!
