Friday Bookish Buzz: Summer Buzzin’

funny cat pictures - Only need you to buy the tuna

My cats would love to have arms, but then they wouldn’t need me. It would just be a matter of time before they lock me out of the house.

I’ve been trying to keep the Girl busy during summer vacation which means less time in front of the computer. I think today will be a library day. Anyway, here are some of the stories I’ve run across this week.

*Abandoned library in old house photo.

*This…is…loony: Man assaults girlfriend with steak sauce for reading 50 Shades of Grey.

*Why, oh why, does Mockingjay have to be two movies?

*Jane Austen’s bling finds a new home.

*Neil Gaiman to write 5 books for kids.

*Gone Girl to be a movie. I’ve got to read that book!

*Etsy Love: This is a cute idea for a bookish couple getting married: Penguin-style poster from Reece Ward. I like how it looks a little grungy like real Penguin paperbacks.

Have a good one!

  3. That library is gorgeous. The steak sauce thing is weird (love that they both live with their parents) and hype be damned, I need to read Gone Girl.

  4. I'm not at all surprised Gone Girl has been optioned. Now let's just hope they do it right. It's a great read.

  5. The trend of making two movies out of a single book has to stop. I could understand it for HP 7 - there were two distinct sections. Twilight 3? Nope. Mockingjay? Double nope.

  6. That abandoned library makes me sad. Who would leave books behind??

  7. I'm excited about the Odd and the Frost Giants sequel.

  8. I wanted to see a picture of Jane's bling! Just for curiousity's sake. What would Jane wear, what was in vogue then?

And really, steak sauce for reading a book?

Did you know The Hobbit is going to be two movies too??? I still can't get over that shock. Two movies! I hate this trend so much.
