Friday Bookish Buzz: November Rains

funny pictures - The last thing I remember is mixing tequila and catnip and the next thing I know is I'm up here.

I don't think much of that will be happening at my house this weekend, we're all fighting colds. It's supposed to be a rainy one anyway. Maybe I'll get some reading done. Halloween was eventful. The night before we lost power because of high winds and rain. We still had no power in the morning. School was cancelled. My girl was pretty disappointed since all her friends were dressing up for their class party. By lunchtime power was back and Halloween could begin! We were lucky not to have ended up with all the snow they had in other places.

Onto bookish news.

*Move over Dan Brown! 18th century secret manuscript is decoded by science.

*A late Halloween story: Bram Stoker's diary to be pubished in April 2012.

*A Kindle lending library? You might want to wait before you pop that champagne.

*Big news for Canada: Google opens bookstore.

*Anne Rice takes a swipe at Twilight.

*Who gives a bleep? Profanity on the covers.

*Canada Reads has a non-fiction long list for the 2012 season.

*Ah! Dreaming big. Tax director turns bookseller.

*RiverRun Bookstore falls on hard times and needs help.

*Rebecca, the musical! I'd love to see a dancing Mrs Danvers.

*Cast your vote for your favorite books of 2011 on Goodreads.

*Etsy Love: Another bookish pendant from Lizabetta's shop and it's ON SALE!

Hope you all have a good weekend but won't find yourselves on a ceiling fan.

  1. Hmm, I don't know about Rebecca as a musical. It could be good, or it could be awful.

  3. I don't see how a Rebecca musical would work! LOL. A play, for sure but a musical?

  4. Mrs. Danvers dancing? I'm still trying to adjust to the idea that there must have been a Mr. Danvers!

Another profane title is Another Bulls**t Night in Suck City. (memoir). This will get more attention when the movie version comes out in 2012.

  5. November can be so bleak, but today is so bright and crisp in Toronto that it's showing November off to be beautiful. I can a-l-m-o-s-t forget how much it rained the week before...

  6. I was pleased to see that I actually knew many of the books to vote for on Goodreads. That doesn't happen very often!

Glad the power returned for you and your family, too. Missing out on the school parties is no fun indeed!
