The Friday Bookish Buzz: Readathon or No

With Halloween a little over a week away, it's time to get your pumpkins! I have mine. :)

So, the Readathon is tomorrow and I'm still debating whether or not to sign up for it. It's going to be a busy weekend around here so I'm not sure. I'd love to participate a little though. What do you think? Sign up anyway and see what happens?

*What do you think of the upcoming film Anonymous? Does it dishonour Shakespeare? (Personally, I think it looks ridiculous.)

*Hear about the National Book Award mix up? It was all over the Twitterverse.

*Well, ain't that a kick in the crotch: Lauren Myracle recounts her emotional rollercoaster ride with the National Book Award debacle.

*Don't have a Halloween costume? Galleycat provides links to literary costume ideas.

*Wahoo! UK book blogger helps get Beth Hoffman book in stores in her country.

*Naomi Wolf tells the story of the night she was arrested during Occupy Wallstreet.

*I don't think Daphne duMaurier gets enough respect. No respect, I tell you.

*Man Booker Prize winner Julian Barnes. Congrats.

*Pretty! Kobo announces the Kobo Vox Colour. I want one!

*Etsy Love: How about some Book Lover wall art from Flourish Cafe? Very stylish.

Whether or not I see you around the Readathon tomorrow, have a great weekend!

  1. Please do join in on the readathon. It's always so much fun! I'm having a crazy weekend as well so I decided to split those 24hrs of reading and spread it all out over the whole weekend starting today (it's Friday afternoon here now). Hopefully I will be able to do most of it during the actual readathon but not sure, we'll see. But I think you will enjoy taking part in it, even if it's just for a bit of time!

  2. Experience- Starting today and spreading it out is a good idea. I might do that. I think I've missed one Readathon since they've begun. They are a lot of fun!

  3. I am sadly not going to be around much of the weekend, so no readathon for me!

And, um, I am trying to ignore the new Kobo toy because I haven't even had my current Kobo toy for a year yet...But, I am so tempted to ask for it for Christmas...

  4. Sign up! You'll be sorry if you don't. Even if you only get to read for a little bit.

  5. I can't participate in the readathon tomorrow but really want to. Next year? Maybe I'll try to get some reading in anyway. :-)

  6. I'm doing the readathon tomorrow. I think its worth signing up even if you only manage to do a little (so long as you're realistic about what you'll be able to do)

  7. There's always been a ton of conspiracy theories about the real author of Shakespeare plays, so I figured it was as good a topic as any for a Hollywood movie-- actually, better; at least it's not a remake of some 80s movie. But Sony Pictures is sending out lesson plans to teachers? That's just weird.

  8. Anonymous looks pretty good, but I think Woody Allen gives the definitive response to the Shakespeare controversy:

Thanks for visiting! Please leave a comment. I've disabled Anonymous comments since I've had a barrage of Anon spam lately. Sorry about that.
