My addiction to coffee is strong but I wavered in my devotion this week. I don't know about where you are but the cost coffee went up here. While tripping down the coffee aisle, I reached for my regular bag of beans and saw that the price had jumped up $2 from the last time.

I didn't like coffee until well after I was married. My husband would make a pot for himself and it just smelled so good... "maybe just a cup"... Then I was hooked. Now I'd say I drink between 2 and 4 cups of coffee a day and these aren't little baby cups either. These are mug abominations.
I like my coffee with a bit of skim milk and a teaspoon of real sugar. My husband prefers his black. When we were first dating, he would listen to a song called "Sugar in my Coffee, Makes Me Mean" by, ironically, Big Sugar. We've never tested that theory on him. Maybe he turns into the Hulk; we'll never know.
As readers, is coffee a part of your reading routine? If yes, how do you like your coffee? Are you an addict? Inquiring minds want to know!
In this video Julian Smith encourages coffee drinkers to not be prejudiced in their coffee choices. Enjoy!

Great post!
ReplyDeleteCafe au lait with skim milk, NO sugar. My favorite coffee is Cafe Britt Poas. I love to bring a book to a coffee shop and read! But with prices rises, it's becoming a greater indulgence than it once was!
My coffee has been going up gradually. It is getting a bit crazy, though... Soon it won't be worth buying!
ReplyDeleteI don't drink coffee at all, but really like the video. So hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHa! I just finished my 2nd coffee of the morning while reading out on the deck. So yes, I like to drink coffee while reading (but then I really just like to drink while reading-- tea and wine are also usual accompaniments). I prefer my coffee black.
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteJust watched the video. I guess I'm a coffee racist. Other good coffee songs (though not funny): One More Cup of Coffee- Bob Dylan (also covered by the White Stripes), Coffee Girl- The Tragically Hip, Afternoons & Coffeespoons- Crash Test Dummies, One Cup of Coffee- Bob Marley, and while it's not in the title, Carly Simon sings about clouds in her coffee in You're So Vain).
O my gosh that is hilarious!! I drink about as much coffee as you do. 2-3 huge cups. A little sugar and a little milk. By the way - don't try half and half - it'll blow your mind and then increase your hip size (at least that's what it does to me).
ReplyDeleteI love my coffee! That is all :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a coffee drinker, but I feel your pain with the price hike!
ReplyDeleteCol- Mmm, sounds good (with a bit of sugar).
ReplyDeleteKailana- No! Don't say that!
Amy- I know, he is so funny.
John- That is a lot of coffee songs.
Amanda- I will stay away from that then. :)
Teresa- 'Nuff said!
Kathy- You are smart not to. ;)
I drink about 2 cups of coffee in the morning, until I feel like I'm awake enough to function (this is sometimes more difficult than at other times).
ReplyDeleteI didn't know coffee was getting more expensive! I heard on the radio that soon chocolate and coffee will be so expensive no one will be able to afford it. I was like, "If I can't have chocolate or coffee, it really will be Armageddon." :P
I actually can't stand coffee. I think it smells divine, but no matter what I put in it, what kind I get, I think it tastes awful. My husband drinks coffee all the time and he's tried to convert me over, but I just don't care for it.
ReplyDeleteI am more of a tea drinker, so I stick to that kind of poison. I like English breakfast tea the best, with just the tiniest bit of honey.
I'm glad I'm one of the few people that doesn't drink coffee. I have a hard time giving up things I love.
ReplyDeleteI confess to being a fiend for Starbucks lattes. They're comfort food on those mornings when I don't want to go to work. Otherwise, I don't drink coffee.
ReplyDeleteMy other addiction is coffee too. I've worked in four coffee shops now. Yep. Love the stuff.
ReplyDeletePS The video is cracking me up. :)
