Friday Bookish Buzz: On the Bright Side...

funny pictures - Now... Where in the Hell did I leave mah Glasses?

Poor kitty, I have days like that too. What can I say about this week? While I read comments from so many people complaining about the heat where they are, I can't say the same about here. It's been unusually cold and rainy for this time of year and it's put a damper on our summer activities. But my husband was on vacation while my daughter was at camp and we used that time to sit in cafes and chat like we're dating. It was nice!

*Agatha Christie was a surfer. Righteous!

*A book blogger gets engaged at the library. Aw!

*Margaret Atwood has more to say about libraries in Toronto.

*What do book bloggers and agents have in common?

*Do you know some Undateable Lit characters? (Psst...my tweet is in there!)

*Feelin' crafty? If you have a wrecked book, you can turn it into a box.

*Don't mess with Georgette Heyer; she will cut yooooou!

*Etsy Love: Wear this "Shh... I'm Reading" scrabble tile pendant from Home Studio to let everyone know not to disturb you.

How was your week? Want to ship some sunlight to Nova Scotia?

  1. The sun looks like it is going to shine today, but then we can have an entire different climate than you! Did you get the crazy thunderstorm on Tuesday up there? We were in Truro and it was pretty nuts!

  3. Thanks for the link to Atwood's interview. She is always prevocative. (sp) I agree with her about libraries, but disagree about graffiti. It's pretty easy to paint over it in my opinion. Property owners and the city should do so.

California faced massive library closures back in the 1980's after Prop. 13 passed. People basically rose up and put a stop to it. Even today when everything out of Sacramento and Washington is cut, cut, cut, I don't hear libraries mentioned in California. With the exception of some towns who are privatizing them. But no one would dare try to close one.

  4. Sorry, no sunshine here, either. It's foggy and gloomy.
