Every week, I waited for the bookmobile and would check out the limit: three books. I'd run home, read one entire book during the two hours the bookmobile was there, run back and "exchange" it for another book. That way, I got to read four books a week. I remember books like Abe Lincoln, Pioneer Boy in a series about famous people. I think John Paul Jones was also in that series, making me want to grow up to be a sailor. (Then I found out that girls couldn't be sailors in 1949 and the early 1950s when I was reading those books, but that's a different story.)
