August is leaving us behind. Just a few more days and wham! it's September. The summer flew by for me. Now I need to get the girl back in school and enrolled in all her after school activities. The first couple of weeks of September are crazy ones. But before that, let's take a look at the book news this week.

*The Aluratek ebook reader (which I have and reviewed) is the first to break the $100 barrier.

*And yucky, product placement in ebooks.

*These are spectacular covers for Penguin books by comic artists.

*The National Post lists the overrated Canadian authors. People give their opinions.

*Whatcha need? I got it. Audiobook Jukebox for audiobook reviews and the Classics Blogger Directory to find bloggers who review classic books.

*Anne Frank's favorite tree succumbs to leaf miner.

*Are the Hunger Games books too violent?

*Ray Bradbury not a fan of the "internets." Margaret Atwood needs to have a talk with him.

*Remember to enter my giveaway for The Art of Racing in the Rain.

*Etsy Love: A pretty bookmark, I Found My Family in a Book, from gorjuss. And if you like that design, go to Skinizi for electronic device skins from the same designer.

A cute book trailer from Nimbus Publishing. It has a doggy! (Or a 'goggy' as my little niece would say.)

Have a great weekend!

  1. The overrated authors piece is interesting. I was clapping loudly at Ondaatje then abruptly stopped when Boyden's name appeared.

  2. Those lists have a way of doing that to people.

  3. Those Penguin covers are so cool.

I recently read a Margaret Laurence novel and a Mordecai Richler novel and loved both, so I was glad that they didn't make that overrated list. I wasn't surprised to see Ondaatje on it, though.

  4. I love love love the comics-artist Penguin covers. I saw some in B&N the other day and wanted to buy new copies of EVERYTHING.

    Penguin - 1
    Andi - 0

  5. Boo to product placement on e-books!

I agree that Yann Martel and Michael Ondaatje are over rated! I strongly disagree on Joseph Boyden, he's awesome!

  6. Oh Ray Bradbury. The interwebs will not eat you. Promise.
