What is new people? My girl had her last day of school which I believe has an effect on my ability to think coherently. I can't have a complete thought without it being interrupted by, "Mooooooommmmm! I can't find my 'fill in the blank.'" So be prepared for a thoughtless summer from me.
I did manage to listen to an interesting podcast today. I needed something to listen to while painting my basement and found CBC's Writers and Company with the editor of The Letters of Sylvia Beach Keri Walsh. Sylvia Beach opened the Shakespeare and Company bookstore in Paris in the 1920's. She is now my new hero. If you want to listen to the podcast, you'll have to do it soon because they only archive the show for 4 weeks.
*Dostoevsky. Even his portrait is depressing.
*FYI: When you explain how you're not a perv, it sounds pervy.
*Heard of Bravo's Work of Art? I haven't seen it (hasn't aired here yet) but apparently the last episode involved the artists designing a cover for Penguin. Here's photos of the covers (did any of them read Pride and Prejudice?)
* A Bad Romance? I dinna think so, lassie.
*Fictionalizing Anne Frank. Kinda icky.
*Ray Bradbury. Not a blog fan.
*"I like my creatures of the night a little nocturnal," says Neil Gaiman.
*Charlotte Bronte's letter is now safely back at home.
*Etsy Love: Celebrate your bookishness with a bookish bracelet from A Likely Story's shop.
Well, hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Enjoy your summer!
ReplyDeleteI love that bracelet!
ReplyDeleteAnd that podcast sounds interesting. I hope I remember to look it up when I get home.
I know just what you mean about summer. My whole routine has changed now that my daughter is out; I think we're both kinda confused. LOL
