I made a big ole batch of strawberry jam yesterday. Yum! I even picked the berries and was nearly attacked by angry wasps. The insect variety, that is.
Me: "Hey look at that buzzing boulder! What?! WASPS! Run! Argh!!" Luckily I was the only person near the hive. I ran like hell and didn't get stung. It made me quite twitchy though.
So anyway, here are some links for your reading pleasure:

You know, I've never been a fan of the group book websites. I've joined a couple or so on that list, but I prefer individual book blogs. There's something more personal about them in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteAs for the "Dan Brown" cover, I found it amusing. I found it the book equivalent of "FREE BEER!" It's not exactly misleading when you consider that anyone about to read a book, can read. It's tacky though. Then, they're likening it to Dan Brown so it seems about right. I find worse than this are people like Tom Clancy who does similar crap all the time, hiring authors to write his "Net Force" books and slapping his name in huge letters on the front while essentially taking the credit. Check out this cover. The clue is in the apostrophe.
John- I've joined a bunch too but I usually end up forgetting about them
ReplyDeleteThat cover is just plain confusing!
Oh, I am so, so, so glad to hear that I'm not the only one who can't get into those websites. I try to remember to load my books to Goodreads and I just can't do it. A blog is all I can handle -- one place to keep up with, list books that have arrived (sometimes), review and rate. That's it for me. I have to force myself to get over to Amazon to paste a review, when requested. I do enjoy seeing the little pictures of what my pals are reading, though.
ReplyDeleteI belong to three of the book sites, but only use one of them. I like Library Thing for the way I can easily post my books, I use it to keep track of what I've read, not what I own, so if I see something that makes me go "I'd like to read that, but it sort of sounds familiar", I can easily check my LT library and see if I've read it already. Nothing irritates me more than a reprint paperback with a different cover. After about 25 pages, I'll think, oh hell...I've read this already and I'm mad I wasted money on it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great links!
I'm on librarything and shelfari and I use librarything for more often! I dont' like the ads on shelfari.
ReplyDeleteI love Librivox.org. They do audiobooks. And I've tried dailyreader.net, which is like dailylit.
The list of book websites is interesting. I guess I barely have enough time to keep up on all the book blogs I like, much less spend time on another book website. I do think they all sound interesting, though!
ReplyDeleteBookfool- Yeah, a blog is a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteKelly- I used my LT when I first signed up but I haven't logged on in awhile.
Rebecca- I had a look at Librivox. I might start using that.
Kim- That seems to be the overwhelming opinion.
