Goodbye May, Hello June!
Some lucky book bloggers are headed to Book Expo America (BEA) this weekend. They'll be meeting lots of authors, getting lots of books and ideas. They will also be holding a blogger signing! Imagine that. I'm sure many will be Twittering events. If you're feeling left out, there will be a Twitter Pity Party on Friday night 8-10 EST. There will be prizes...and cake (BYOC). PS- There is also a Pout-a-thon all weekend at Mad Woman in the Forest.
*Kanye West, son of professor, proud non-reader, writes a "book." Oh the irony! I can't even begin, but blogger Yule Time has a lot to say about it.
*Man sues Guiness Book of World Records. How does one sue the Roman Empire?
*Wow! An "ATM for books". Books printed on demand. Interesting.
*For dog loving book people: a librarian's dog ornament collection finds a new home.
*Not a dog lover? How about cats? Bookstore A Novel Idea gets a couple of cats and helps out hundreds more.
*Alice Munro wins the Man Booker Prize. Congrats Alice!
*The Obamas to hold a book festival. (Take that Kanye!)
*It only took 67 years but Archie proposes.
*Etsy Love: Did you know Pirates Read Too?
Hope you all enjoy the weekend, wherever you may be!
Great list of links! I'm all about the BEA pity party. If I can't be there, might as well have fun with other people who can't be there!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's June. This year is vanishing before my eyes.
Kanye is just too much.
ReplyDeleteAlice really deserves that award. Her short stories are so deep. I haven't read a novel by her yet, but she writes those too, write?
' “I think you marry the nice girl, I don't think you marry the whore,” she says, '
ReplyDeleteI really hope that someone described as a feminist professor did not say that. Also the idea that the temptress is always blonde is a bit out dated I'd say, it's about 50, 50 now.
BYOC, love it. But don't forget the "No BEA? Books Anyway!" festivities for those of us not attending BEA!
ReplyDeleteWow, Archie finally proposed, huh? That's pretty cool. I always liked Betty, but Veronica was fun, too!
ReplyDeleteI heard about Alice Munro. My boyfriend told me, of all people. He was so proud of himself to know something book related before me! lol
This is the busiest weekend down in my neck of the woods. I don't think I am going to battle the traffic this year...
Ha! That cat cracks me up!!! Thanks for the links...especially the Pout-a-thon! I'll be there =(
ReplyDeleteI didn't even realize Archie and the gang had graduated from Riverdale High, let alone that they were old enough to get married! Best of luck to the happy couple :-).
ReplyDeleteSee you at the BEATwittyparty!
Meghan- Plus, we can be in our pjs. Bonus!
ReplyDeleteNicole- I'm ashamed to say that I haven't read anything by her- and me a Canadian reader :(
Jodie- Maybe she was being ironic. Let's hope. Why were those 2 girls fighting over Archie anyway?
Jen- Thanks for the link!
K- Apple Blossom festival, right?
Kristina- Isn't he cute?
Florinda- I didn't know that either.
Great list of links. I'm joining you in the shame department - I'm Canadian too, and originally read Hoffman only because she was required reading for a course I was taking!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting a link to my site. Much appreciated!
