Friday Bookish Buzz: Who Gets a Break?

Oh help me! Next week is March Break. No plans to go anywhere. It's still cold outside. If you have ideas on entertaining a 6 year old indoors, lay it on me. I may lose my mind.

*Own a first edition Harry Potter? You could make some big bucks.

*Jericho proves old TV shows can come back to life as comic books.

*Love Your Indie: Joe Hill runs a contest.

*Paperback Frenzy is a new-to-me book review site. Check it out!

*Are you a spectacular failure? Maybe you should write a book.

*2666 wins US critics award.

*It must be our long winters but Canadians put the Club in Book Club. In Tatamagouche, they've built a bar (maybe that's Where the Women Went?) and in Vancouver they play charades.

*Etsy Love: Love dolls? Love literature? Now you can have your own Elizabeth & Darcy. Or maybe a Charlotte Bronte perhaps? Uneek Doll Designs has a unique (wink) selection of dolls for the literature lover.

Have a fun weekend!

  1. That bar is such a cool idea! I am totally going to have to go there next time I am up that way!

  2. I know just how you feel, my daughter is six, and our son is 4, and there's too much snow to take them to the park, and while they will go to the museum with their father, so will every other child choose that day to go! I have to go check out those Etsy dolls, having my very own Elizabeth and Darcy dolls sounds so fun!
A bar in Tatamagouche (don't you love the name?)? I like the name of the club too: Loquacious Compendium book club. We really do have long winters up here, don't we?!

  3. I love the cat picture! I can totally imagine my cat thinking that.

I'm excited because it's finally started to warm up a bit here. So I have a few outdoor things planned, including a walk and a trip to the park. Of course the weather could turn bad. For indoor activities we're going to go to the library a couple of times (they have some events planned. I'm also thinking we'll break out the board games and the puzzles.

Usually my boys (7 & 4) don't lack for fun ideas for things to do, my problem is keeping them from fighting while they're trying to each use all of the "best" pieces to build something.
