It's the shortest- and for me, coldest- month of the year, but the days are getting longer. It's nice that it's no longer pitch black outside at suppertime. Any big weekend plans?
*"Delightfully creepy" Coraline opens today.
*When you're banning books, you got to be clever.
*Landing a plane in a river? The last thing you should be worrying about is a library book. Kudos to Mr Sullenberger!
*Some books are loved more than others. Brits love Harry Potter at the library.
*Stephen King disses Stephanie Meyer. Meeeeooooow!
*This is an interesting story about copyright infringement. Did the artist of this famous Obama painting steal the image from a photographer?
*Estella's Revenge for February is all about Desire.
*Raidergirl starts a new feature on An Adventure in Reading: Bookword Game. Giving names to bookish phenomenon.
*Etsy Love: So cute! A sunny reading print from Smile Shop, Read, Read, Read... or Reading Is Smart. This might be my new favorite shop.
*Finally, Stephen Colbert demands a Newbery when he finds out Neil Gaiman won his for The Graveyard Book. (Canadians must view it here.)
I just finished 1984. Once I get my head around it, I will post my thoughts. Have a great weekend!
Tag -- you're it!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I read the STephen King piece--very MEOW!!!! lol
ReplyDeleteLove those Etsy shops! More for my faves.
Can't wait to read what you thought of 1984.
Nice posting. I like the picture too. I wanted to thank you for the Weekly Geeks Passions post. It was really great to see what everybody is passionate about. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteHave a Happy Day!
Thanks Julie!
ReplyDeleteAndi- It's the hot topic this week.
ChicGeek- Thanks! And thanks for coming by.
I made the Bookish Buzz!
ReplyDeleteOh, Uncle Stevie. He's such a man. That's not shorthand, that's what it's all about.
ReplyDeleteNeil Gaiman linked to that clip on his blog. Hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that Steven King bashed Stephanie Meyer cracks me up. Not that I necessarily disagree, but I just think its silly to bash someone else when you're a public figure because you never end up looking good out of it.
I can't wait to read Coraline. I've chosen it as one of my reads for Dewey's Book Challenge, as she read and reviewed it on her blog, but I want to finish the book before seeing the film.
ReplyDeleteRaidergirl- lol!
ReplyDeleteCarrie & Kim- He had some balls to say it. I'm sure many have thought it.
Bellezza- I read it in October. I really enjoyed it.
Great links, I loved the Colbert clip :)
