I think this will be the last Bookish Buzz until January. I can't believe in 2 weeks it will be 2009. Next week, Santa will have been here. I hope he leaves you lots of books!*Okay, December is almost done but you still have time to Buy a Book by a Black Author and Give It to Someone Who Isn't Black. I like how they promote their cause with humour. The YouTube video is cute.
*Best Books for Book Lovers list here on Flashlight Worthy.
*More lists? Quill and Quire's Best of 2008 or The Seattle Times list.
*Christmas Dinner by Charles Dickens, a short story in the Telegraph.
*Speaking of Dickens: I'm not sure what they are trying to prove.
*Etsy Love: Wow! This artist, Paperbones, is amazing. The Handmaid's Tale* and Penelope have book lover written all over them.
Edit:
*I just had to know the story behind The Handmaid's Tale print so I emailed the artist, Erin McGuire. She had done a Dystopian series for art school and she directed me to her website here. Check it out.
I hope Santa leaves you lots of books too! Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? I am... Last year was a green (well, really it was more brown and dreary) Christmas if I remember correctly!
ReplyDeleteK- We have snow here now. If we're lucky, it won't rain before Christmas. Yeah, it was a brown Christmas here last year too.
ReplyDeleteDang. We had an ice storm last night. Lucky to have power at this point. What a mess!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
What a fun post! I have yet to check any links but wanted you to know that I WILL. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great Holiday filled with books! Isn't that what we all wish for? Oh and good health to you and yours. Loved the post. Am I missing the link for Erin McGuire's site? It's entirely possible with the theraflu induced mind I have at the moment. Slàinte!
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing out Paperbones etsy shop, I've been looking for some artwork for a very wide and blah wall in our house and The Handmaids Tale print would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteI think they're trying to prove that Oliver Twist was an ungrateful little snot.
ReplyDeleteStephanie- Yuck. I hate ice storms.
ReplyDeleteCare- Thanks!
Moira- It's in the word here (I shouldn't have highlighted it in red).
Joanne- I know, it's stunning isn't it, that red highlights the starkness of the rest of the painting.
John- lol! Shut up and eat your gruel.
Howdy! You have a Christmas Spirit Award waiting for you at my blog...
