The Friday Bookish Buzz: I Survived!

This week was the first week of school. The kid's first day in Grade 1 went by without too many problems. I'm cautiously optimistic. And look! The sun is out! Hurray!

*My Weekly Geeks Close Ups were detected by my readers' eagle eyes, all except one. It was Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. This is my actual copy and I just love the retro look.

*Note to Josh Hartnett: keep your pants on in the library.

*Odd title winner: Greek postman beat out zombies

*The Jewel of Medina finds a new home.

*Dideridoo too daring for girls.

* And the nominees are... not me. Boo hoo! Oh well, I take comfort in knowing that some really awesome blogs shared my fate. Congrats to all the nominees! Can't wait for Book Bloggers Appreciation Week.

*Happy Birthday and a Giveaway for the kiddies!

*Here's an odd story: My Sister Jodie offends housewife (I'm offended by 'housewife' in the title, maybe I should complain to The Telegraph. Like, she's a housewife, of course she's complaining *sarcasm*). At first, I wondered what the heck the were talking about until I read the comments. Substitute 'a' for 'i'.

*Etsy Love: 'Book Slut' necklace from Rhymes With Magic and this sweet library card from Two Guitars. Psst... I love all the book items in Rhymes With Magic's shop.

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Ah, I'm just catching up on your posts and now it seems like it would have such an easy one to figure out! Good job on the collage.

I am loving those Etsy stores you mentioned.

  2. I've checked out the nominees, and I was surprised at how many I was unfamiliar with. And here thought I was in the book blogging world. I'm not even the suburbs! Still, I checked them out and will probably add a few to my daily reads.

  3. Iliana- Thanks!

John- Yeah, I guess we don't know everyone in the book blogging world! I hadn't heard of quite a few either and I expected to see more of the ones I loved.

  4. Meanwhile, Random House is busy censoring again. I wonder what you think of this?

  6. I know what you mean about Grade 1, my daughter was all tears right up to the bus, and then came home all smiles and loves it! The youngest goes for J-K on Wednesday, on the bus for the first time.....I know what you mean by the blogger awards, alot of blogs were missing that I was sure were going to get nominated! If John's not even in the suburbs, then I am out in the countryside!

  7. Rob- Thanks, that's okay ;)

Susan- I was worried because she wanted her old teacher and she hasn't liked big changes lately. She's like me.

I'm giving out some of the BBAW awards so I'm going to have to get to know some of them!
