I need a Hero: BTT

Booking Through Thursday

You should have seen this one coming … Who is your favorite Male lead character? And why?
Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!

There are so many! For swashbuckling adventure, I love Edmund Dantes from The Count of Monte Cristo. Just an average Joe, who's tossed into prison for life, learns the 'art of war'- sort of speak, escapes, acquires unimaginable wealth, plots needlessly complicated revenge and proceeds carrying it out. You know, like anyone would.

Then there's Jamie Fraser (sigh) from Outlander who I'm sure will be on many lists. A leader of men, a lover of woman (Claire). He's the guy to go to when the chips are down.

There's the unassuming, quiet man of justice, Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird. He's raising two kids alone in a town of racial prejudice and trying to teach them right from wrong. Atticus's best lesson is for everyone to walk around in someone else's skin before making judgements.

I'm sure I could go on forever, but there's only so many hours in this gorgeous day.

  3. I could not put that brute Jamie Fraser on the same page as Atticus Finch. Sorry! Can't get past Jamie's beating Claire. Shudder.

  4. I agree about Dante and Finch. Real heroes.

And I forgot to mention either!

    Here is my BTT post!

  5. I rather like the occasional swashbuckling hero myself, though it's so long since I read The Count of Monte Cristo I don't remember any of the characters. I liked Scaramouche, though!

  7. have to agree on both Dantes & Finch- another fav along that line is Valjean from Les Miz. Course if it wasn't for Javert he wouldn't be half as interesting...

  12. I just read The Count of Monte Cristo last year, but I completely agree with you about Dantes. I love those dark, romantic, swashbuckling types (as you say!).

  16. How could I forget Atticus Finch? Love! I am reading Count of Monte Cristo now, and yes, I can see why I would be in love with Edmund by the end. Haha, I love how people react when I mention Pooh. He is too much of a cutie that needs attention. He may not the cleverest of bears, but he has the bestest of intentions.

  17. I've To Kill a Mockingbird in my pile; I guess I should read it soon...

  18. Atticus is a good choice, but I'm afraid I would have to go with Bilbo Baggins.

  19. Ah...I've To Kill a Mockingbird in my pile, but as for the other two I'll see if I'll get them in the near future.

  20. I forgot about Atticcus Finch! Part of his attraction to me is Gregory Peck's portrayal, just like my choice of Mark Darcy is tied directly to Colin Firth.
