With Valentines Day next week, I'm wondering if any of you have any romantic plans for this weekend. Any that you can share..hem, hem.
My taste of romance this weekend will be watching Pride & Prejudice on Sunday's Masterpiece Theatre.
Speaking of movies, Lindsay Lohan or Kiera Knightley could be the latest Catherine Earnshaw in Wuthering Heights. I can see Lohan as Cathy. She's got the crazy down.
A Lolita bed for 6 year olds? I think this falls into the category of 'that's our story and we're sticking to it.' Seriously, no one had heard of Lolita?
Canadian tax dollars at work. Readers are ordinary people? Really? Huh, who would have thunk it.
For fans of The Other Boleyn Girl, a website for the upcoming movie. (Thanks, Marg).
Scribbit is giving away 2 Scrapbooking Mystery books (yes, that's what I said) and Cariboosmom gives away Stephen King.
Today is the last day to enter your submission for BookNinja's Bookworm Carnival. See the details here.
And for a little fun: Susan posted this video on her blog. It's from an improv group Improv Everywhere.

Well, for Valentine's Day, the experts (ie the Romantic Novelists Association) have just announced the winner of the "Romantic Novel of the Year" - Pillow Talk by Freya North.
ReplyDeleteIt will probably be Keira. She's the go to girl for period pieces. P&P, King Arthur....
ReplyDeleteMy current ongoing romance is with my cat. And our weekend plans are probably similar - sleeping. I might knit.
And hey! I love the thee's, thou's and exclamation points.

Seriously no one heard of Lolita? Are these people living under a rock? I mean even before I read the book I "knew" what it was about.
ReplyDeleteCool links - now I want to go check out the site for The Other Boleyn Girl. I loved that book and am looking forward to the movie.
So disturbed by the Other Boleyn Girl movie. Saw a trailer on TV. So historically inaccurate, if they're saying Mary and Anne were vying for Henry's attentions. So not true. Will be staying away from that one for sure.
ReplyDeleteOf course this is a quibble of mine. I was watching ANNE OF A THOUSAND DAYS last week while home sick (Richard Burton and Genevieve Bujold), and they weren't accurate either, having Henry visit Anne while she was in the Tower before she was executed. Never happened. He left her during a jousting match and never saw her again.
I guess the movie people think this is more interesting.
Lohan would be a good Cathy...OMG, that novel...I felt like I'd been pulled sideways through a brambly hedge after I finished that novel. I'm glad I did, but still...
ReplyDeleteLolita bed: I truly believe that people nowadays are literary-illiterate. Think back a few years to a car named "Cressida".
Oh now that was cool! Loved that video!
ReplyDeleteThe Other Boleyn Girl seriously needs to come out!
S.Mac- I'll check that out.
ReplyDeleteCarrie- Sorry ;)
Iliana- I'm doubtful of their story.
Karen- Did you read Gregory's books? They're fun to read but I doubt accurate.
Bybee- Too funny!
Ladytink- I'd be interested to see what you think of the movie.
That video is crazy! It almost looks like a camera trick.
ReplyDeleteAmazing.
I agree with Bybee. I totally believe that no one in the whole store had heard of 'Lolita'. Idiots.
ReplyDeleteI won't read Gregory's books only because I've read so many nonfiction books about Henry and his wives that I'd probably end up throwing it across the room! :) I just don't understand why these stories needed to be embellished. The truth is so much stranger than fiction!!
