Booking Through Thursday
Do you cheat and peek ahead at the end of your books? Or do you resolutely read in sequence, as the author intended?
And, if you don’t peek, do you ever feel tempted?
Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!
Yes, yes, I do, ok! Happy now? hehe! Yes, I occasionally peek. Why? I don't know. Probably for the same reason I shake wrapped Christmas presents.
Sometimes if I think the book is going down a road I don't want it to, I'll peek. "They better get together at the end!" If it looks good, it keeps me going. Most of the time the last page tells me nothing anyway.
There, now you know my deep dark secret.
Nope, you're not the only peeker -- though I was certainly beginning to feel like I was in the minority!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting.
Hi Chris good to hear from you. My header is the view from the front of our house. Love your header too - great butterfly!
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not the only 'peeker'.
I peek sometimes too! I have been trying to figure out why as I have been reading other peoples responses. It's not before I start reading, it's like you to see if my theories worked out. I onlt read the last paragraph which often doesn't tell me anyway!
ReplyDeleteOoh, that is a deep dark secret, but don't you feel better now, having admitted it?! And oooh, you shake your Christmas presents too?! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!
LOL! I was really bad in my teens and would carefully open up and re-wrap my Christmas presents! Terrible I know! But for some reason I don't peak at the endings of books. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteChristmas presents, I shake. Books, I NEVER peek at the endings!! It just ruins the experience for me.
ReplyDeleteI never peek. I can't. It would ruin the reading experience for me. My daughter peeks. It drives me crazy to see her do that!
ReplyDeleteYour deep, dark secret... too funny! Diane
ReplyDeleteLOL...are you relief that you finally let the secret out in the opening? *grin*....I'm not a peeker, but I understand your reason to peek.
ReplyDeleteI sorta knew that majority of people is going to be either a peeker or not a peeker. It no surprise to me, since I have seen friends who does it. I just didn't think about this, when I was posting to Melody's blog last night. I was so tired out....but yes, there are majority of people who is peeker and not peeker. This is interesting meme today :)

This is so funny - I would never touch a present until it was given to me, officially - I like the suspense too much!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I'm a spoiler girl, I have my friends spoil the book for me, sometimes I have to beg because they don't want to ruin the book for me but sometimes I just don't give a dang and want to know!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog, btw!
I peek too--mostly to know if characters-in-jeopardy survive to the end, or if the couple I think will "couple" end up together . . . but just a glance at the end. I don't READ the ending, just, well, peek!
ReplyDeleteAnd, Christmas presents? When I was a kid, I always wanted to know ONE thing I was getting. I wanted the rest to be a surprise, but I loved the "in-the-know" feeling of knowing one thing in advance. I apparently was a great actress, too, because my Mom never realized until I told her a few years ago (grin)
Alright! I love a girl who is honest. I peek too;-)
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly why I peek! I don't want to waste my time if I feel like a book is headed in the wrong direction.
ReplyDeleteI just toss the book if it isn't grabbing my attention(luckily I use the library!)
ReplyDeleteThere are SO many books that there is bound to be one I like(In my piles all over the house,...lol)
Thanks for sharing with us about your deep dark secret. LOL. Always love to see some different answers.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading. :)
I hope you will not kill us now that we know your deep dark secret. LOL. Great stuff, Chris. :)
ReplyDeleteGenerally, I'm not a peeker. Na-ah. Though sometimes I changed my mind and peeked...
That's too funny! I referenced Christmas presents in my post on this subject too, but in a different way. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy mom still thinks its funny that my sisters and I never snooped when we were little. I wouldn't feel too bad about peeking. Harry (from When Harry Met Sally) always reads the last page so that if he dies before finishing the book he'll know how it ended. Now, that is dark. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't usually do this, but today I sneaked a look at the end of the novel I'm reading now.
ReplyDeleteThanks to Dewey, I "heard" the end of my last novel, On The Road. Love Kerouac's voice.
